Vol. 5 No. 2 (2022): Journal of Professional Counseling
The current volume is the 5 Edition and is focused on the theme: 'Trauma-Informed Education (TIE) in Nigeria´. This topic became an area of interest given the increasing trend of traumatic episodes that occur within and around us. Traumatic events and situations spring up almost in all settings from time to time, at home, school, work-place and in various facets of the society. These became more intense and glaring during Covid- 19 pandemic which ravaged the globe with untold trauma, illnesses, diseases and deaths.
The papers accepted and published in this edition are basically on the contemporary issue of trauma informed education and counselling across five broad sub-themes as follow
- Trauma – informed counseling towards ensuring mental well-being among children and adolescents.
- Trauma-informed counselling: skills and ethics required by counsellor trainees
- Trauma-informed counselling interventions for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.
- Trauma-informed counselling and menace of drug use/ addiction in Nigerian schools.
- Trauma-informed counselling and mental health.
Most of the articles focused on counseling techniques and interventions geared towards ensuring the mental and psychological well-being of individuals that experienced traumatic situations and those predisposed to it.
The Editorial Board extends appreciation to all contributing authors, and all peer reviewers for their
efforts and time. The Board promises that continued effort will be made to ensure improvement on
the quality of The Journal of Professional Counseling' (JPC) to meet up with globally comparable standards. 'The association has a functional website that hosts published articles online in order to
attract a wide visibility and readership.
