Abstract
The Journal of Professional Counselling (JPC) serves as the official publication of the Association of Professional Counsellors in Nigeria (APROCON). It is dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of Guidance and Counselling in Nigeria and worldwide through publishing well-researched and original articles. The journal welcomes submissions from authors in the field of counselling psychology and related disciplines, aiming to enhance knowledge and skills in counselling practice. Each article undergoes a blind peer-review process and plagiarism tests to ensure a high level of originality prior to publication. The current volume, the 6th Edition, is centred around the theme of "Counselling for National Rebirth, Behavioural Transformation and Attitudinal Change."This topic emerged due to declining values and behavioural deficits prevalent in our society, exhibited by individuals and organizations alike. The need for counselling is crucial to foster a value-oriented, behavioural transformation and attitudinal change in our rapidly changing contemporary society. Instilling the right values and norms in the younger generation is paramount for the progress of our nation. Consequently, research and counselling play significant roles in addressing this critical topic. Volume 6, Number 1 focuses on the contemporary issue of counselling for national rebirth and positive attitudinal change. The articles featured in this edition predominantly explore counselling techniques and interventions aimed at enhancing values, morals, and combating various issues such as drug abuse, addiction, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and corrupt practices. The authors address these topics within the framework of the main theme, "Counselling for National Rebirth, Behavioural Transformation, and Attitudinal Change.” The papers cover a wide range of important areas, including: Ÿ Counselling for promoting positive attitudinal change. Ÿ Counselling against gender, religious, and other forms of discrimination. Ÿ Counselling against unethical behaviour and corrupt practices. Ÿ Counselling against school violence. Ÿ Counselling for the promotion of patriotism and national value reorientation. Ÿ Counselling for fostering positive parenting. Ÿ Counselling against domestic violence. The Editorial Board expresses her gratitude to all contributing authors and peer reviewers for their valuable efforts and time. The Board remains committed to continuously improve the quality of The Journal of Professional Counselling (JPC) to meet globally expected standards. The association maintains a functional journal website, www.JPC.aprocon.org.ng, where published articles are available online, ensuring increased visibility and readership.
